Chief Investment Officer

Larry joined Mozaic, LLC in 2020.  Prior to joining Mozaic, Larry worked for eight years as Vice President, Pension and Investments for The Walt Disney Company where he led all investment strategies for the Company’s $15 billion defined benefit pension and $10 billion 401(k) defined contribution retirement plans, while managing a team of six.  Before joining Disney, between 2003 and 2012, Larry worked as a Managing Director at the University of Texas Investment Management Company (UTIMCO), where he managed more than $12 billion in global equity and fixed income investments, invested significant high net worth/foundation/endowment equity and fixed income assets as a partner and portfolio manager at Perella Weinberg Partners, as well as conducted a sweeping consultant review of the Teachers Retirement System of Texas’ $100 billion+ investment profile and risk platform at the request of, and specifically for, CEO Britt Harris.  Larry’s work experience also includes managing over $1.5 billion of equity investments for Commonfund (1999-2003), managing $2.5 billion of defined benefit pension plan investments for Fluor Corporation (1994-1999), and managing over $500 million of investments, as Manager of Treasury Investments for Toyota Motor Sales (1989 -1994).  In every one of his positions, Larry generated significant excess investment returns in his portfolios and mentored teams of professionals to higher levels of investment success.
Larry earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Finance from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1985, and earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Management from The Wharton School in 1989 – where he was also a Teaching Assistant to Professor Jeremy Siegel.  In 2015, Institutional Investor awarded Larry with its Thought Leadership award, and in 2018 Trusted Insight named him one of the Top 30 Corporate Plan Chief Investment Officers.
In addition to the above, Larry continues to be a frequently requested speaker at both industry conferences and educational venues, due to his thoughtful, highly engaging, and forward-thinking read on vital and trending investment issues and solutions.

Personally, Larry has an extensive music background encompassing trumpet, bass, piano and musical composition and has to his past credit his own instrumental CD. In support of the musical talents and efforts of others, Larry also founded and managed The Recording Arts Foundation, while in Austin, Texas.
